Trauma can go as far back as conception and is imprinted within us at a cellular level. If you do just talk therapy and don’t include all the other aspects necessary for healing you are just reinforcing the energy/belief symptom. Kate O’Connell observed that its important need to get to the imprinted trauma in the body at the cellular level and you can’t do that necessarily with just talk therapy. In addition to getting a degree and license as a Child and Family Therapist, Kate O’Connell spent years studying Energetic Medicine, Homeopathic and Naturopathic medicine even training with a Cherokee medicine woman and shaman. Taking all that knowledge, training and awareness in conjunction with the standard therapist license she opened a holistic approach to therapy in private practice in Charlottesville, VA, addressing the therapeutic needs of children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her training in Intensive In-Home Services, Addiction, Family Systems Therapy, and Energy Medicine enables her to facilitate positive outcomes for her clients, all the while advocating for them within the legal, academic, medical, and social systems.
Through her observations, she realized there is a need for multi-dimensional healing. It’s so important we avoid only addressing symptoms – in this case, behaviors. The body reflects our emotional experience, eventually, something will come out in the body.
Kate O’Connell is the founder and director of The Healing Alliance of Central Virginia a non-profit organization offering a variety of efficacy-based modalities to facilitate mental, emotional, and physical healing at the cellular level for individuals of all ages and all walks of life, regardless of ability to pay.
Kate discusses that we all have a tendency to go back in time we judge ourselves. Often times if you look back and your choices from 6 months ago make you cringe. “What was I thinking?” That reaction should be something you should be celebrating. That means that you are healing, developing, you are evolving to increased awareness. You will look back and wonder what you were thinking. In six months from now you will be judging what you thinking today and that’s the process and you should celebrate the fact that you are actually changing.
Her book “Beyond the Imprint” heralds a new paradigm of thinking within the field of mental health counseling…far beyond the duality of our unconscious condition.
We are intimately interconnected with our environment and everything that inhabits it which also includes the understanding that we can change what is outside of us by simply changing ourselves.
As long as we are imprinted and conditioned to look outside of ourselves in order to identify who and what is causing us pain or pleasure; we will always be trying to manipulate and control our environment and those in it in an attempt to mitigate loss and minimize our suffering.
In order to move beyond our unconscious reliance on our environment to reassure ourselves that we are safe and secure; we must begin to dissolve our wound imprinting.
Quantum physics is beginning to replace the mechanistic world view of Newtonian Physics and is teaching us, with every new discovery, that we are intimately interconnected with our environment and everything in it. This includes the understanding that we can change what is outside of us by simply changing ourselves.
